Root Canal

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure to treat infection at the centre of a tooth (the root canal system). Root canal treatment is also called endodontic.

The infection is caused by bacteria that live in the mouth and invade the tooth. A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Root canal treatment should not be painful. Because local anesthetic is normally given.

It is important to look after your teeth when recovering from root canal treatment. You should also avoid biting on hard food until all treatment is complete.
